Creative Commons Licences
The six Creative Commons licences incorporated within GILF are the preferred method of licensing for the management of government intellectual property. Use of the Creative Commons licenses fosters availability and accessibility, and encourages the re-use of government information.
Creative Commons licences are free licences that have been developed for:
-
protecting the intellectual property rights of creators, while encouraging the sharing and re-use of the created material or work
-
minimising administration with a consistent, transparent and unmediated legal framework for all materials
-
applying to information delivered in any media except computer source code (but including text, books, film, photographs and digital or analogue music)
-
making copyright active by stating the terms of use of a copyright work.
Each licence provides a range of options with increasing levels of restriction.
For more information about the licence types and formats encompassed in GILF, visit the Licences section of this website.
