Getting Started
The GILF Licensing Review provides users with a stepped process to assist in the licensing of materials under GILF.
The Licensing Review involves the following steps:
-
The identification of the material to be licensed.
-
The identification and review of restrictions applicable to the publishing of the original content.
-
The Identification of the input sources used in the creation of the material.
-
The identification and review of publishing restrictions that apply to the additional inputs.
-
The selection of an appropriate GILF licence based on the outcome of the review.
The first part of the Licensing Review asks questions about any original content that has been incorporated into the material by the creator. As an example, original content could be analysis, report commentary, or new data. These questions focus on whether the reviewer, or their superior, has the right to publish the material and, if so, in what form.
The Licensing Review will then ask questions about other inputs incorporated in the material. Inputs are content acquired from other sources. For example, inputs may be datasets provided by your agency or another government agency. It is essential that you have the appropriate permissions to use and consequently publish the material using these inputs.
You can save your progress at any time during the Licensing Review process. The Licensing Review will provide you with an XML file that may be uploaded again when you are ready to continue.
When you have completed the process, you will be guided in the selection of the most appropriate GILF licence for your material. Once you have selected a licence, the Review will provide a summary report containing all of the information about the Material and the answers to the Review questions. It will also enable you to download a report file that may be used in content management systems.
