Licence markings in document templates

Licence markings can be included in document templates for a class of documents. For example, if policy documents are licensed with a Creative Commons Attribution (BY) licence, then the licence markings can be included in the template used to create those policy documents.

 

Placement of licence markings


Licence markings should always be placed on the bottom right-hand page of a brochure, website, fact sheet, etc. For example, if there is more than one page to a publication, the licence marking should be placed on the back of the publication in the bottom right-hand corner. It is also recommended that the licence badge be placed near the copyright notice. In the case of an Excel spreadsheet, place licence markings with the metadata.

 

Margins


Licence markings should be placed at least 12 mm from the bottom of the page and 12 mm from the right-hand side of the page, as shown in Figure 1.

Sizing and colour of licence markings

 

Make sure you keep the integrity of licence markings by sizing them proportionately:

the minimum size is 24 mm x 8.5 mm.

The colour is always grey and black (grey screen is 20%). The text under the badge is 7 pt Meta Normal on 8 pt leading. The space after brand is 1 mm. Space between text is 3 mm.
